About us

The Department of Psychology is a part of the Faculty for Social Sciences and is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. Research is conducted in a variety of different areas and our research groups are divided into six research divisions. Our courses span all levels from undergraduate to PhD and include a psychologist programme, a psychotherapist programme and more. We have a psychotherapy clinic with two disciplines of psychotherapy. The department comprises over 160 members of staff and the department's annual turnover is SEK 130 millions.

Changes in working life: FALF conference in June 2013

The Swedish Forum for Working Life (FALF) invites you to the 2013 national working life conference to be held June 17-19. The conference is organized by the Department of Psychology in cooperation with the Stockholm Stress Center.

  • Newton International Fellowship to Östen Axelsson 2012-12-07 As the only Swede, Östen Axelsson, Department of Psychology, has been awarded one of 41 Newton International Fellowships for 2012. Axelsson will receive around £100.000 for a two year fellowship at the University of Sheffield, UK, to study "Sound Cities - Part 2: Soundscape Quality and Taxonomy".
  • Professor Montgomery in Crosstalk about capitalism 2012-11-22 Crosstalk is a joint venture between Stockholm University and The Royal Institute of Technology in the form of a web talkshow where leading professors discuss current world topics. On November 20, 2012, Professor Henry Montgomery joined the show to discuss the subject How can we save capitalism?
  • Grants for researching mental health in early adolescents 2012-05-09 The main research questions for this programme grant deal with the school environment, academic achievement, epigenetic mechanisms and mental health in early adolescents.
